We export to 35 countries. Our aim is to finish 2016 with 40 countries.

We talked Metaxdoor Chairwoman of the Board Tuba Arslan.

Could you introduce yourself? Could you tell us about how your company was founded?

MetaxdoorI somehow got involved in aluminum and glass business…

“I started working in restoration field after my graduation from Yildiz Technical University Faculty of Architecture with a degree in restoration and this was followed by my works in the fields of aluminum construction and curtain wall, which was the fields I decided to pursue a career.In the year 2000 we started thinking about where and how to start we decided to enter the market with a product combining aluminum, glass and automation technology.We realized that the market was dominated by foreign brands and there were very few domestic manufacturers. We had targets such as becoming a brand, exporting our products and to manufacture in a best was possible even before we started our business.We founded Arslan Yapi Otomasyon San. Ve Tic. Ltd. Sti. in 2002 and we lay foundations of our brand Metadoor within the same year. We started with baby steps and come a long enough way to design and manufacture our own products.We manufacture manual and automatic revolving doors, sliding doors, swing doors and their variants.”

We had R&D while SMEs didn’t…

“I saw the need for a preliminary examination about the products during my career in the business.When we looked into world-wide businesses we realized that R&D is a must have for this range of products. You have to keep developing your products.You have to have an R&D department if you are manufacturing a product with plenty of development opportunities.”

Our main products are sliding and revolving doors…

‘As Metaxdoor we are making applications of revolving doors, sliding doors, hospital and clinic room doors and swing doors, which are made with a modular construction using various glass options and specially designed aluminum profiles, in line with domestic and international customer demands and requests.We can provide special service for projects in many fields such as shopping malls, hospitals, hotels, etc.Even though sliding doors are highly preferred due to their ease of manufacturing and installation, revolving doors are being preferred in blocks lately.We are coming across many renovation projects for doors of shopping malls, nowadays.Malls begin to replace their sliding doors with revolving doors.We have clinic room doors and hermetically sealed doors which are used commonly especially in hospitals.Hermetically sealed doors are systems which are preferred mostly in intensive care units, operation rooms and they prevent bacteria and virus transfer by sealing the entrance and enabling pressure differences between inside and outside.Specifications of hospitals state the use of hermetically sealed doors in hospital in the recent years.Besides, our lead doors are being used in radiation rooms of hospitals.”

 We first started exporting with our close neighbors…

“When we first started this business of ours there was a significant demand from Russia, Turkic Countries and Iraq. Dubai and Abu Dhabi followed these countries. After these French and English companies started showing interest. Social communication networks gives us major advantagesin the recent era.The world has become so globalized that people can now reach us from their desks. We are able to answer the demands easily thanks to our very strong technical infrastructure.”

We realized that we can sell these doors in Europe…

“We decided that we need to acquire a TÜV certificate, which is valid in Europe, when we started getting requests from France and England. We made an application in Germany within 2010 to acquire this certificate.We proved that our products are usable in Europe both quality and safety wise by acquiring TÜV certificate from Germany after 2 years or work. We reached a brand standard which was marketable in Europe and was with quality assurance. As of this day we are exporting to many countries including Germany, France, England, Ireland, Romania, etc.We are currently exporting to 35 countries and out target is to finish 2016 with 40 countries.”

Sales in Turkey are harder due to us being adomestic manufacturer…

“Although our international sales are great, we are making lower sales in Turkey due to us being a domestic manufacturer.Reasons of our international sales being high is both our corporate thinking and our realistic stance at price quality ratio.We are currently manufacturing and providing installation and after sales service with 40 people in an area of 2000-meter square.You can come across Metaxdoor brand at over 20 thousand points in Turkey and abroad.We don’t want a growth with turnover target.We enjoy what we are doing.We enjoy exporting our products. We are taking strong steps towards becoming a small scale enterprise.We can be a tiny piece of sand in a huge shore. However, it should not be forgotten that when all the sand join together we can compose a shore.”

We should nationalize our products already…

“Companies’ should remember that these products are manufactured here and capital stays in our country while evaluating.They should at least give domestic producers a chance…”
